2024 Local LHS Scholarship Process


All seniors who submit the LHS scholarship application will be eligible for various scholarships determined by the LHS Scholarship Committee.  Using a 1 to 5 point scale, students will be evaluated on GPA, character, extra-curricular activities, service, leadership and references.  Scholarship recipients and nominees will be selected by the specific criteria required by the individual scholarship.


Please pay special attention to the LHS general application as some scholarships listed require an additional form along with completion of the LHS form.


All scholarships listed on the LHS general application except for the FFA Alumni are due to the counseling office on Friday, April 12, 2024- no exceptions! All scholarship forms must be typed! No hand-written applications will be accepted!
 
The FFA Alumni Scholarship is due Tuesday, April 2nd to the Counseling Office.
**FFA Alumni: This scholarship is open to all graduating seniors in good standings with the FFA organization and Lincoln School District who plan on pursuing post secondary education.  There will be two scholarships awarded at $500 each. Students will need to complete only the FFA Alumni application. The application is due on April 2nd to the Counseling Office.
 

The following scholarships listed are included in the general LHS scholarship application. Scholarship requirements can be found below.

** Denotes a separate application/form is needed along with general LHS form. These forms should be downloaded and are located on the right side of the webpage.

 

Al Brenengen Memorial Scholarship: Seniors and alumni pursuing a degree in education at a two or four-year college or university. (LHS application only).

 

Bill Leis Memorial Scholarship: Seniors with a "B" average and above, 95% attendance and participation in a minimum of two extra-curricular activities per year. (LHS application only).

 

**CO-OP Credit Union (CCU): Student or parent must be a member.  Students need to complete the LHS general application and the CCU application.

 

**Donald Eisberner: Applicants must have a Humbird mailing address.  Students must submit the LHS general application and answer additional Donald Eisberner application questions.

 

Gansel Teaching Scholarship: Seniors pursuing a degree in the field of education (LHS application only).

 

**Gene and Judy Ransom: Recipient to be non-valedictorian and preference for student attending UW-Eau Claire. Students need to complete the LHS application and Ransom Scholarship form.


**Hornet Pride:
LHS application and additional Hornet Pride application with essay question.

  

Lincoln Alumni: No specific requirements (LHS application only).

 

Lunda Technical: Seniors attending a technical college (LHS application only).

 

Merrillan Lions: No specific requirements (LHS application only).

 

Mikel Koller Memorial Scholarship: Will be awarded to a senior who will be seeking a degree in the Construction trades (Building Construction, Cabinetmaking, Interior Design, HVAC etc.) This scholarship uses only the LHS application.

 

North Branch Humbird Rod & Gun Club (new in 2024): Applicant must reside in boundaries of the School District of Alma-Center-Humbird-Merrillan. Preference will be given to a student majoring in conservation, construction, trades and the outdoors (LHS application only).

 

Robert "Knuckles" Johnson: Technical school preference for construction, machining, welding (LHS application only-available to both seniors and alumni).

 

**Scholze Family Farms Agricultural:  Seniors pursuing a major in agriculture at either a two/four year school or Madison Short Course Program.  Students applying will need to fill out the LHS form and answer two additional essay questions.

 

 

ADDITIONAL LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES!!



April 30, 2024-Frank N. Brown VFW/LAVFW Scholarship Program: Applicants must be a grandson/granddaughter/son/daughter of a VFW or LAVFW member (or may be an Auxiliary member). That member must be current with membership dues.  If the member is deceased, they must have been current with their dues in the year of their death.  The VFW Post Quartermaster or LAVFW Post Treasurer must verify this.  Only one eligible VFW or LAVFW member is required to be listed.  Make sure all required information is complete. Please see attached file to the right for scholarship application and directions.

 

Higher Educational Aids Board (HEAB) Technical Excellence Scholarship (TES)

What is it?  Scholarship given to one LHS senior who has the highest demonstrated level of proficiency in technical education subjects – starting this year.  What’s it worth?  $2,250 per year, renewable for 3 years, to be applied towards tuition at a technical college within the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS). Selection will be based on specific criteria set by HEAB. One senior will be selected by the school counselor. principal and final determination will be made by the School Board. More information can be found at http://www.heab.wisconsin.gov/ A copy of the application can be found from Mrs. Schulte in the School Counseling Office. This form is due to the School Counseling Office no later than Thursday, March 7th. A copy of your acceptance letter from the school you will be attending must be attached or emailed to Mrs. Schulte.

 

Additional scholarships that are not part of the LHS application process have separate forms found to the right.

The deadlines for these scholarships may vary. In addition, certain scholarships should be mailed to the sponsor, and not turned into the School Counseling Office. Please look over each scholarship application carefully and pay attention to deadlines and details.
